Welcome to SAXS/WAXS System at IISER Mohali. This system will enable frontier research in the area of material science, in particular, in the determination of structural parameters/features of particle systems in terms of averaged particle sizes or shape etc. The facility is located in the ground floor of the informatics center.

 

WAXS Mode of Operation  SAXS Mode of Operation 
 
  The fully automated Xeuss SAXS/WAXS System (Model C HP100 fm) consists of following features:
 

X-ray Source

  • Micro-focus sealed tube with Cu anode
  • X-ray tube power 30 W/30 µm
  • Flux density at sample > 1.2 X 108 photons/s, pure Cu Kα radiation

X-ray Optics

  • Multilayer single reflection optics suitable for high flux with 2D collimation for Cu

Sample Stages

  • Motorized XZ stage
  • GI-SAXS stage

Sample Holders

  • Liquid/solid Samples (multi-capillary holder)
  • Thin films

Diffracted beam path

  • Multi segment vacuum tube in <1mbar operation condition for SAXS/WAXS measurements

Detector

  • Latest 2D array Pilatus 200 hybrid pixel detector from Dectris mounted on motorized rails
  • Large active area up to 84 X 70 mm2 with high  resolution

Primary Beam Stop

  • Motorized beam stop  fixed with X-ray transparent wires with external Z and X adjustments

Temperature Control Units

  • LinkHam Hot stage (-50 to 200 °C)
  • Oxford Cryosystem (-173 to 300 °C)
 
   


Rates for SAXS/WAXS measurements

  1. For Internal (IISER Mohali) users Rs. 100 per sample
  2. For Major users of the instituteRs. 10000 per year
  3. For External Academic users (outside IISER Mohali)Rs. 3000 for every 3 hours of usage
  4. For External users (Industry/non-academic)Rs. 6000 for every 3 hours of usage

Mode of Payment: Via cheque/crossed DD in favour of Registrar, IISER Mohali

Samples submitted to this facility for recording SAXS/WAXS data are the property of the investigator. All data collected by the facility directly relevant to the samples are released to the principal investigator upon completion. The SAXS/WAXS Facility at IISER Mohali should be acknowledged in all publications
