About the Speaker:
Atul Sood is Professor at the Centre for the Study of Regional Development, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. His research interests include globalisation and its implications for regional development; economic reform and public funding for health; and institutional and regulatory issues that strengthen equity and the rights of the marginalized and deprived social groups. He collaborated with the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development on the project ‘Social Dimensions of Green Economy and Sustainable Development’ (2011-2012). His research publications include Shadow-Boxing in Punjab on Government Finances (2010) and Decent Work in Global Production-Challenges for Vulnerable Workers in the Indian Garment Sector (2009). He edited a volume Poverty Amidst Prosperity: Essays on the Trajectory of Development in Gujarat (2012).
