DIRECTORATE
From Director's Desk
IISER Mohali is one of the seven IISERs, established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India to provide an enriching ecosystem to the students who wish to pursue science as their passion as well as career. The BS-MS program offered by IISER Mohali provides a holistic immersion not only in all the disciplines of sciences but also in humanities and social sciences. Our PhD program attracts some of the brightest young minds from across the country, all determined to pursue careers in research. This dynamic community of researchers is further enriched by our vibrant postdoctoral program, which brings fresh ideas and diverse research perspectives.
The green campus of IISER Mohali offers opportunities for improving both physical and mental fitness through sports as well as yoga. A diversity of chirping birds and dancing peacocks adds to the unique natural ambience of our campus. Celebration of most of the festivals and organization of a variety of events by the cultural clubs including music, dance, elocution, quiz and social get together provides platforms to our students to express and hone their unique talents and skills, and to mix with each other to accept, appreciate and assimilate the linguistic, religious and cultural diversity which India is gifted with.
The Faculty members in the different departments of Biological, Physical, Chemical, Mathematical, Earth and Environmental Sciences as well as Humanities and Social sciences have been carefully chosen who bring along with them the experience and academic ambience from some of the most reputed institutions of higher learning from all over the globe. They, with the help of the state of the art equipment facilities, make every effort to transmit their passion through teaching of science to produce future researchers who will not only have the potential to advance the frontiers of sciences but may also change the way science will be done in the future. These researchers are expected not only to invent new phenomenon and innovate new ways of improving technologies, they are also expected to be sensitive enough to address and solve the challenging issues affecting our society, industry, agriculture, ecology and climate. The Technology Business Incubator of IISER Mohali provides an enabling ecosystem to startups and entrepreneurs to innovate to bring new and efficient solutions.
While outreach activities of IISER Mohali extend a helping hand to the nearby institutions in Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and other nearby states to share our experience, knowledge and facilities, our international cell aims to make IISER Mohali an attractive destination for the seekers of knowledge from all over the world.
I consider myself privileged to have gotten the opportunity of being part of the IISER Mohali family and to contribute my bit in enabling our students, staff, officers and faculty members in fulfilling their aspirations as well as of their family, society and the country.
