Location : LH-3, Lecture Hall Complex, IISER Mohali
Abstract: The history of science and technology is often overlooked, and when it is written, the focus tends to be on renowned figures such as Nobel Laureates, discoverers, and inventors. A few years ago, the speaker began writing about lesser known yet equally significant Indian scientists. In this communication, I highlight the story of Bibha Choudhuri, a scientist from Bengal, who rose from relative obscurity to become a world-renowned figure.

About the speaker: Rajinder Singh is affiliated with the Research Group for Physics Education and Public Understanding of Science at the Physics Institute, University of Oldenburg, Germany. His research primarily focuses on Indian scientists, Nobel Prizes, and science education. A retired science teacher, physicist, and historian of science and technology, Singh has authored over 45 books, either independently or in collaboration, on Indian scientists and Nobel Prizes.
