Outline of the lectures:
In the first talk of this series on: Applications of Lie Groups, I shall talk about my initiation to this fascinating field from an engineer's perspective, and how the experience of wading ankle deep into these waters tempted me to go deeper, and enjoy and employ many of its features and facets. I shall present a few representative problems in mechanical and aerospace engineering, and robotics, where this theory is but a natural backdrop and foundation to further analysis and engineering design.
In my subsequent talks, I shall present the machinery of Lie groups relevant to us engineers and the applications we have worked on - consensus and synchronization of multiagent systems, robotics
and observer design.
