About the Speaker: Prof. Vinod Tare, former Professor at IIT Kanpur, holds M.Tech and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from IIT Kanpur and completed postdoctoral research at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. He served as Sir M. Visvesvaraya Chair Professor, Ministry of Jal Shakti.

He led the IIT consortium that developed the Ganga River Basin Management Plan and is currently leading studies for River Basin Management Plans for six rivers—Mahanadi, Narmada, Godavari, Krishna, Cauvery, and Periyar—involving 12 national institutes (IITs, NITs, CSIR-NEERI, and IISc Bengaluru). Dr. Tare has guided numerous scholars, published widely, and served on several national and international committees. He has also developed eco-friendly sanitation systems for Indian Railways, communities, and events like the Kumbh Mela.

He currently serves as Advisor to the Centre for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies (cGanga) at IIT Kanpur, established by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
