Dynamical stability and ergodic optimization

Abstract: A 'good' dynamical system is one whose qualitative behaviour is stable under small perturbations. With a strong focus on examples, I will try to make this precise and describe a class of such stability phenomena with respect to orbits that are in some sense extremal.
