QFTA 2025: 3rd International Conference on Quantum Foundations, Technologies and Applications
The 3rd International Conference on Quantum Foundations, Technologies and Applications (QFTA 2025) was held from 04 to 08 December 2025 at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali. The conference brought together researchers, professors, students, and experts working in different areas of quantum information science and technology.
The main aim of the conference was to discuss the foundations of quantum information theory and their applications in modern quantum technologies. The event included invited talks by well-known speakers from India and abroad, representing leading universities and research institutes. These talks covered important topics such as quantum information theory, foundational aspects of quantum information, quantum computing, quantum communication, and related emerging technologies.
An important part of QFTA 2025 was the organization of four focused workshops. These workshops were designed to help participants gain deeper understanding of foundational concepts and current research directions in quantum information science. The workshop themes included quantum measurements, quantum entanglement, quantum metrology and quantum sensing, and quantum key distribution and quantum cryptography. The workshops were interactive and especially beneficial for students and early-career researchers.
The conference also included a panel discussion titled “Quantum Technologies in India: Prospects and Challenges.” During this session, experts discussed the current status of quantum information research in India, future opportunities, and the challenges involved in advancing quantum technologies at the national level.
In addition, an engaging poster session was organized as part of the conference. Students and early-career researchers presented their research work, interacted with senior scientists, and received valuable feedback. The poster session provided a lively platform for discussions and exchange of ideas.
Overall, QFTA 2025 was a successful and enriching event. It offered a common platform for learning, discussion, and collaboration among researchers working in quantum information theory, its foundations, and quantum technologies. The conference contributed to sharing recent research progress and strengthening the quantum research community in India and internationally.
