Research Interests
My research focuses on earthquake seismology, with an emphasis on understanding earthquake source physics, crustal and upper mantle structure, and seismic wave propagation characteristics. I use techniques such as local earthquake tomography, shear wave splitting, and moment tensor inversion to investigate the seismotectonic framework of active tectonic regions. My work has contributed to understanding the seismic structure of the Himalaya and other seismically active areas, shedding light on subsurface deformation processes.
I am also interested in the development and improvement of algorithms for subsurface imaging. Recently, I implemented a Monte Carlo simulation-based algorithm for estimating crustal velocity structures, enhancing the accuracy of seismic models. My research extends to seismic anisotropy, where I analyze the directional dependence of seismic wave velocities to infer stress and deformation patterns within the Earth.
Beyond fundamental research, I aim to integrate seismic observations with geodynamic models to improve earthquake hazard assessment. I actively collaborate with national and international researchers to advance our understanding of earthquake processes. Through my work, I strive to bridge the gap between theoretical developments and practical applications, contributing to both scientific advancements and seismic risk mitigation efforts.
