Jets and Jet Substructure Adventures at High Energy Colliders
Thursday 26 February 2026, 12:00pm

Dr. Tousik Samui, IMSc Chennai

Location : AB1-Conference Room
Abstract: Jets are among the most central physics objects in high-energy colliders. At a basic level, jets appear as collimated sprays of hadrons, but their internal structure carries rich information about the nature of the originating particle -- whether a quark, gluon, or heavy resonance. The energy distribution within a jet encodes these characteristics. Over the years, the community has developed sophisticated algorithms and observables to improve sensitivity in collider searches. In this talk, I will introduce key jet substructure techniques and their applications in Standard Model and Beyond Standard Model physics studies. I will then discuss the dynamic radius jet clustering algorithm proposed by us and its effectiveness in the study of BSM searches. I will also briefly discuss the recent advancement in the application of jet substructure to polarization-sensitive studies at the high-energy colliders.
