Abstract: The development of fluorescent probes with high luminescence in aqueous and in solid state has gained attention for in vitro and in vivo sensing of analytes having biological importance. From our laboratory we have reported a number of fluorescent probes based on different scaffolds for sensing and bioimaging of biologically important analytes like creatinine, and cholesterol nerve agents. In recent studies, by regulating the radiative/ non-radiative decay moderately fluorescent photosensitizing assemblies have been prepared in water. The potential of these assemblies to induce oxidative stress through the electron transfer pathway has been demonstrated in biological cell lines and C. punctata fish as animal models. The results of some of these findings will be presented in the meeting.
