The 14th convocation at IISER Mohali was held on june 17th, 2025. The Chief Guest for 14th convocation was Professor Umesh Waghmare, a renowned physicist and academic administrator from the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru. presided by Dr. J. S. Yadav, Chairperson, Board of Governors of the Institute, who was also the former Director of the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad.
India witnessed a landmark moment today as Soil Yatra 2025 —women-led, mobile regenerative soil testing initiative — is being flagged off from Raj Bhavan, Punjab. Honourable Governer of Punjab is flagging of the yatra in presence of other dignitaries including Mr. Priyak Bhari (IAS) , Secretary Science and Technology, Punjab; Prof Anil Kr Tripathi (Director IISER Mohali), Prof Sudeep Mandal (Dean R&D IISER Mohali) and Er. Pritpal Singh (Executive Director , PSCST)
The SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) Heritage Club of IISER Mohali brought a vibrant cultural experience through its annual Virasat 2025 series, held from February 11th to 25th. The event was a celebration of India’s classical heritage, blending workshops, performances, film screenings, and heritage walks, immersing the campus in traditional art and thought.
The festival opened with workshops led by masters of Indian art forms. Padma Shri Pandit Ritwik Sanyal introduced students to the meditative depth of Dhrupad while Shri Vijay Sharma, also a Padma Shri conducted sessions on Kangra painting, guiding participants through the techniques of this traditional visual art.
In the realm of dance, Padma Shri Vidushi Geeta Chandran led workshops on Bharatanatyam, exploring the expressive power of gesture and rhythm. Complementing this was a series of Hatha Yoga sessions by Tyagraj Saraswati, emphasizing the harmony of breath, body, and consciousness.The evenings came alive with a series of captivating performances. Pandit Ritwik Sanyal’s Dhrupad recital enthralled audiences with its spiritual depth. The rhythmic brilliance of Vidushi U. P. Nagamani on the Carnatic mandolin, and magnetic energy of Sardar Balkar Singh Siddhu’s Punjabi folk music left everyone enthralled. Geeta Chandran’s Bharatanatyam recital narrated timeless stories through elegant movement. The series concluded with a Hindustani vocal performance by Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar.
Beyond performances, Virasat also included a screening of Akira Kurosawa’s Kagemusha, offering cinematic depth, and a heritage walk to the Chandigarh Bird Park, reconnecting participants with nature. Through this thoughtfully curated festival, the SPIC MACAY Heritage Club IISER Mohali not only showcased India’s cultural richness but also created a space for introspection and learning. Virasat 2025 was a dialogue between tradition and youth.

Tattva, the annual Science Festival of IISER Mohali, celebrating the essence of scientific curiosity was inaugurated on National Science Day February 28, 2025. The Education Minister of Punjab, S. Harjot Singh Bains inaugurated the event followed by the inaugural talk by Dr. Anjan Ray, former Director of the Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun. The two-day festival features inauguration of academic magazine "Meraki", thought-provoking discussions, interactive workshops, and engaging competitions aimed at students. To inspire young minds, the closing talk of the fest was delivered by Dr. Srivari Chandrashekhar, Former Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology and Former Director of the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad.
Hon'ble Vice-President of India visited IISER Mohali on Monday Feb17, 2025 and interacted with faculty, students, and staff. We are deeply honoured and grateful for this opportunity to engage with him and be inspired by his vision and words.
The 76th Republic Day was celebrated at IISER Mohali Campus with great enthusiasm. Professor Anil Kumar Tripathi, Director IISER Mohali unfurled the National Flag in the presence of faculty, staff members, and students of the institute. The program commenced with the opening speech of the Registrar, Professor Jagdeep Singh. The faculty, staff members, and students attended the 76th Republic Day celebration and enjoyed the patriotic cultural program organized for this occasion.
The day culminated with the 18th Foundation Day Lecture, delivered by the Chief Guest, Professor L. S. Shashidhara, Director of the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore. His lecture, titled From the Origin of Life to the Evolution of Self, captivated the audience. Mr. Sant Sanganeria, Managing Trustee of the Sanganeria Foundation for Health & Education, New Delhi, was the Guest of Honour. He is a pioneering figure in the fragrance and flavor industry.
Professor Anil Kumar Tripathi, Director of IISER Mohali, presented the institute's annual progress report. Dr. Jagdeep Singh, Registrar of the institute, reflected on the early days of IISER Mohali, offering a nostalgic glimpse into its remarkable journey.
In addition to the lecture, the institute’s quiz and literary clubs organized competitions such as quizzes, spelling bees, and crosswords, while the drama club performed a lively nukkad natak (street play). The art club engaged participants with interactive activities involving shapes and colors. Approximately 1,800 students and their teachers, participated in these activities, with the primary objective of igniting curiosity and offering a glimpse into the world of science
