>Inter IISER Sports Meet 2013 held at Pune. IISER Mohali bagged gold, silver, bronze medals in various categories of sports meet.

>IISER Mohali, under its outreach activities has organized a program on Wednesday September 25, 2013. The program involved 30-40 teachers and teacher trainers from the Punjab Government school system.
>The program main focus was to:
>a) Expose the participants to the IISER concept and to opportunities in Science.
>b) Bring them in touch with some topics in current scientific research so that they see the excitement in science, and take it back to share with other teachers and students.
>c) Show them demonstrations which will help them generate interactive and enquiry based science teaching methods in schools.
>d) Bring out the connection between learning science and doing science.
>Orientation Programme for the BS-MS 2013 batch held on August 3, 2013 at IISER Mohali Campus.
>Mathematics weekend was organized in the Institute on October 25-26 2013 to celebrate the birth anniversary of legendary mathematician Evariste Galois. The celebration started with a popular talk "The Tau of Ramanujan" by Professor Eknath Ghate from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Mumbai.
>Mathematical treasure hunt event that saw an overwhelming response from the students was organized soon after the popular lecture. Other events that kept students engaged >for the whole weekend were Mathematics Olympiad, Dumb Charade, Crossword and Quiz. Mathematical stalls demonstrating fun part of the subject were put up in the foyer of >Lecture Hall Complex. Mathematics major students of the Institute along with Mathematical Sciences Faculty had put joint efforts to make the event successful.

>On September 5, 2013, the students organized a Teachers day celebration, and the best teacher award (for those teachers under 40) was awarded to Dr. Ramesh Ramachandran, Department of Chemical Sciences, IISER Mohali.
>Professor Kapil Hari Paranjape spoke on the Abel Prize 2013 which was awarded to Pierre Deligne of the Institute for Advanced Studies. Professor Paranjape spoke on the work of Deligne in particular describing his famous proofs of Weil conjectures and Ramanujan’s tau conjecture as a consequence.
>To discuss the Nobel Prizes of 2013, a session was organized with experts speaking on the different prizes.
>On the occasion of the National Technology day, Professor Sanjay G. Dhande, Former Director, IIT Kanpur delivered a lecture on the “Role of Creativity in Technology Forecasting and Development” on May 13, 2013. The presentation focussed on how an element of creativity can be fostered in the present education and research environment of universities. The talk outlined how development of technologies based on new ideas is pursued in a society. He also discussed how emerging areas which are likely to >become potentially strong technologies in the years to come. In particular, the five areas of sensors, Massive Online Open Courses (MOOC), social media, 3D printing and cloud computing were presented and discussed.
>Second Convocation at IISER Mohali held on May 25, 2013. Chief Guest: Professor P. Rama Rao (Former Secretary, DST Government of India and Former Chairman Board of Governors, IISER Mohali). Professor K. K. Talwar, Chairman, Board of Governors IISER Mohali presided over the function.
