Session on Nobel prizes

A set of popular lectures were organized around the theme of the 2010 Nobel prizes in  Science on October 13, 2010 at IISER Mohali. Dr. Sudip Mandal (IISER Mohali), Dr. R. Vijaya Anand (IISER Mohali) and Dr. Ananth Venkatesan (IISER Mohali) delivered lectures on the occasion.
 

Session on Nobel prizes

A set of popular lectures were organized around the theme of the 2011 Nobel prizes in Science on October 22, 2011 at IISER Mohali. Six lectures were arranged in two sessions to highlight the work and discoveries that led to the award. The lectures were as follows:

• Dr. Anu Sabhlok: The peace prize.
• Dr. Adrene Freeda D’cruz: The prize in literature.
• Prof. Sucha Singh Gill (CRRID, Chandigarh): The economics prize.
• Dr. Sanjay Mandal: The chemistry prize.
• Dr. Arunika Mukhopadhyay: The prize in medicine.
• Prof. J S Bagla: The physics prize.

A session on Nobel prizes for the year 2012 was organized at IISER Mohali on October 17, 2012. The following talks were organized.

• Dr. Ram Yadav: The Medicine prize
• Dr. Kausik Chattopadhyay: The Chemistry prize
• Dr. Mandip Singh: The Physics prize

Inaugration of Central Analytical Facility

Central Analytical Facility at IISER Mohali was inaugrated by Chairman BOG Prof. P. Rama Rao on March 3, 2010.

	IISER Mohali hostel was inaugurated by Prof. C.G. Mahajan, Dean students on December 3, 2010 in presence of Prof. N. Sathyamurthy, Director and other members of faculty, staff and students of IISERM.

	The Foundation Day 2010 was celebrated on 27th September 2010. Prof. P. Rama Rao, ARCI Hyderabad, delivered a Lecture on "Glimpses of Materials History" on this occasion.
	The CNR Rao foundation has constituted a cash prize of Rs. 5000/- for the best student in each semester at IISER Mohali. Mr. Agastya P. Bhati received the prize on August 15, 2010 from the Director, Prof. N. Sathyamurthy.

	KVPY camp is organised at IISER Mohali from May 31, 2010 to June 5, 2010.
	8th February is observed as the National Science Day in India. It marks the anniversary of discovery of the Raman Scattering by Dr. C V Raman.  Dr. Raman observed this scattering in 1928 and got a Nobel Prize for the same in 1930. This achievement led to development of a new field of Raman Spectroscopy. IISER Mohali celebrated this day by organising a quiz, an elocution competition and a display of some scientific phenomenon for the students of various schools in the tricity (Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula).

IISER Mohali Events Archive - 2011

	'Courses of Study Book' being released on December 16, 2011 in the senate meeting by the senior most senator Professor S. V. Kessar.
	The Foundation Day 2011 was celebrated on September 27th, 2011. Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, Chairman (Board of Governors) IISER Mohali, delivered a Lecture on "More for Less for More" on this occasion.

Science Day Celebration

Science Day was celebrated this year on February 28, 2012 with a program organized by our students for the school students of the region. This time the program took place in our new lecture hall complex and a variety of events were organized. A stimulating science quiz which also included a component for citizens was organized. The programme also involved taking the school students through demonstrations of experiments in various science laboratories of the Institute. An open session of school students with scientists from IISER Mohali was organized where questions from students were answered by the faculty. A photography exhibition was also organized by the Photography and  Videography club of IISER Mohali on this day.

Inaugration of IISER Mohali East Gate

East Gate of IISER Mohali sector 81 campus was inaugurated by Executive Engineer cum Estate Officer, Mr. Praveen Kumar Srivastava on 26th January, 2012 in the presence of Prof N Sathyamurthy Director IISER Mohali and other faculty members.
